This airport is open 24 hours a day and is also flexible in accepting private jets. The airport island area already has social infrastructure in place, including rail and road access. However, since it is adjacent to the airport, regulations limit building heights to 45 meters, which may affect hotel development plans. A prefectural representative told IAG , “No decisions have been made, such as any additional infrastructure required being the responsibility of the operator.” ONE OF A KIND Aichi Sky Expo, which opened in this area in 2019, is an exhibition center connected directly to the airport that boasts a 90,000 square-meter floor space and 60,000 square-meter exhibition space. It should be noted that this is the only exhibition center in Japan with a customs-free zone. A customs-free zone is a 日本唯一 同エリアで2019年に開業した「愛知県国際展示場(Aichi Sky Expo)」は、延べ床面積9万平米、展示面積6万平米を誇る日本初の 国際空港直結型の展示場。特筆すべきは、日本唯一の「常設保税 展示場」であるという地域。「保税展示場」とは、国際的な規模で行 われる博覧会や公的機関が行う外国商品の展示会などの運営を 円滑にするために、関税などを課さず、簡易な手続により展示、ま たは使用可能な場所のこと。IR整備に必須なMICE施設として組み 込めるならば非常に心強い。 初期投資額 事業者が魅力を感じている重要な点がもう一つある。初期投資 額が東京や横浜のように大規模な投資ではないことだ。新型コロ ナの影響で1兆円を超えるような投資は出来ないが、愛知の規模 感であれば可能だと考える事業者もいるだろう。東京や大阪、横浜 JAPAN などよりは小規模となるが、長崎や和歌山のような地方に比べる と大きな規模となる。 いかがであろうか？IR誘致には申し分無い場所であるようにも 見える。IR事業者が魅力を感じ、今もなお可能性を探っているのも 納得だ。 県はどう考えているのか？ 県の担当者に聞くと「RFCで提案があった事業者に対しヒアリ ングは続けており、最近も状況に応じて実施している」と言う。「新 型コロナが事業者にどこまで影響を与えているのか意見を聞いて いますが、事業者が日本のIRにコミットできるのかというところが 確認できていません。事業者の体力がいつ戻るのかなど正直よく わからないところがあり、判断しかねるというところです」と同氏は 説明する。
