IAG JAPAN JUN 2021 14 GALAXY OPTS OUT OF YOKOHAMA IR BID ギャラクシー　横浜IRへの参加見送り決定 GALAXY ENTERTAINMENT GROUP has announced its decision to withdraw from Yokohama’s IR operator selection process. In a statement, GEG Vice Chairman Francis Lui said, “Galaxy Entertainment Group, along with our partners from Monte- Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) from the Principality of Monaco, have been actively pursuing discussion for several years with the Japan Government and local communities including Yokohama. The world and business climate continues to evolve which has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are honored to have learned a tremendous amount about the people, culture and ambitions of Yokohama and highly value the relationships that we have developed with the government, business associations and local community including Kanagawa over the past few years. “We greatly appreciate the opportunity to play an active role in Yokohama’s IR selection process but have decided to not participate at this time. We will continue our dialogue to support Japan in achieving its goal to develop a sustainable and world class IR industry.” The company isn’t withdrawing from Japan altogether however, reiterating its interest in pursuing an integrated resort license in Japan. GEG’s decision not to follow through in Yokohama comes after both Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts announced their withdrawal from Yokohama’s RFP last year. ギャラクシー・エンターテインメント・グループ (以下 「GEG」本社:香港)は17日、今回の「横浜特定複合観光 施設(IR)設置運営事業」への応募見送りを決定したと 発表した。 GEGのフランシス・ルイ副会長は、「ギャラクシー・エ ンターテインメント・グループは、モナコ公国のモンテ・ カルロ・ソシエテ・デ・バン・ド・メール(SBM)と提携し、数 年前から日本政府や横浜をはじめとする地域社会と積 極的に協議を重ねてきました。新型コロナウイルスの感 染拡大により、昨年もそして現在も、世界とビジネス環 境は影響を受け続けています。 GEGはこれまで、横浜の人々、文化、未来について多 くのことを学び、過去数年間に政府、業界団体、神奈川 県を含む地域社会と築いてきた事、そして横浜の IR 選 定に参加する機会をいただけたことに深い謝意を表し ます。しかしながら、深い熟慮の結果、現時点では、横浜 特定複合観光施設設置運営事業に参加見送りを決定 いたしました。GEGは、持続可能な世界水準の統合型リ ゾート(IR)を日本に作りあげるという目標を達成するた めに、対話を継続してまいります」と述べた。 GEGは日本から撤退したわけではなく、引き続き日 本IRでのライセンス取得へ向けた取組に関しては継続 していくとした。 横浜IRでは今までに「ラスベガス・サンズ」と「ウィン・ リゾーツ」が参加を見合わせており、GEGはそれに続く 形となった。
