IAG JAPAN DEC 2020 10 NAGACORP TO BUILD US$350 MILLION IR NEAR CAMBODIA’S ANGKOR WAT ナガコープがカンボジアの アンコールワット近くに370億円のIR開発へ NAGACORP LTD, owner and operator of NagaWorld in Phnom Penh, has revealed plans to develop a US$350 million non-gaming resort in Siem Reap aimed at promoting NagaWorld and UNESCO world heritage- listed Angkor Wat as “twin tourism icons of Cambodia.” The ambitious plan was made possible when the Cambodian government granted NagaCorp a 50- year lease on 75 hectares of land located just 500 meters south of the outer restricted zone surrounding Angkor Wat. Built in the 12th century, Angkor Wat is Cambodia’s most recognized attraction and the largest religious monument in the world. Provisionally named Angkor Lake of Wonder, NagaCorp's new development will be complete by 2025 – likely before the US$3.5 billion Naga3 expansion of NagaWorld opens for business – and incorporate high-end hotels, a water theme park, indoor hi-tech theme parks, a canal, water cruise attractions, and MICE facilities. There will also be an entertainment district called Siem Reap China Town offering street food, pubs, music and shopping. NagaCorp said the development will serve multiple purposes – boosting visitation to Siem Reap while providing additional promotion of and access to NagaWorld by implementing new travel strategies connecting Siem Reap and Phnom Penh by air, river and road. プノンペン にあるナガワールドを所有・運営するナガコープが、ナ ガワールドと、ユネスコの世界遺産に登録されているアンコールワ ットとを「カンボジアを象徴する観光地の2本柱」として宣伝するこ とを狙いに、シェムリアップに3億5,000万米ドル(約370億円)の非 ゲーミングリゾート開発を計画していることを明かした。 この野心的な計画が実現した背景には、カンボジア政府が、ナ ガコープに対して、アンコールワットを周辺の外側の制限区域から たった500メートル南にある75ヘクタールの土地の50年リース契 約を与えたことがある。12世紀に建てられたアンコールワットは、 カンボジアで最も有名な観光名所で、世界最大の宗教遺跡群の 中の1つ。 ナガコープの新たな開発計画は、おそらくナガワールドの35億 米ドルのナガ3拡張がオープンする前の2025年に完成予定で、高 級ホテル、ウォーターテーマパーク、屋内ハイテクテーマパーク、運 河、ウォータークルーズアトラクションそしてMICE施設が作られる 予定。 また、シェムリアップ・チャイナタウンと呼ばれるエンターテイメ ント地区もできる予定で、ストリートフード、パブ、音楽そしてショッ ピングが楽しめる。 それが作られる予定となっている「アンコール・レイク・オブ・ワ ンダー」の仮称がつけられた75ヘクタールの土地は、ロサンゼル スのディズニーランドとディズニー・カリフォルニア・アドベンチャー と合わせた面積よりも広くなる。 ナガコープは、「この開発は、シェムリアップとプノンペンとを 空、川、陸で繋げる新しい交通戦略の実施によってナガワールドを さらに宣伝し、そこへのアクセスを提供しながら、シェムリアップへ の訪問客を増加させるという多くの目的にかなうものになる」と 述べた。
