2020 年 5月 IAG JAPAN 15 2020 WORLD SERIES OF POKER POSTPONED 2020年のワールドシリーズオブポーカーが延期に 2020年 のワールドシリーズオブポーカー（WSOP)が正式に 延期された。 発表の中で、シーザーズ・エンターテインメントは、新型コ ロナウイルス感染症による公衆衛生上の緊急事態が米国を 襲っていることを受け、当初5月26日の開始が予定されてい た第51回WSOPは、2020年秋まで延期されたことを明かし た。具体的な日程とイベントは今後決定される。 ワールドシリーズオブポーカーのエグゼクティブディレク ター、タイ・スチュアート氏は「今年、ワールドシリーズオブポ ーカーを開催することに強い決意を持っているものの、ゲス トおよびスタッフの健康と安全を優先しながら従来の規模で 進めていくにはもう少し時間が必要だ。その間、今年の夏に WSOPの正式大会がオンラインで開催されることになってお り、我々は、世界の事業者たちとの提携を通じて、規模を拡大 してWSOP.comで開催されるトーナメントシリーズの詳細を 間もなく発表する予定をしている。オンラインでの大会開催 によって、プレイヤーたちは自宅からWSOPの栄光を追い求 めることができるようになる」と述べた。 主催者側は、1万米ドルのメインイベントの開催は変わら ないものの、WSOPが開催された時には短縮日程となる可 能性が高い事も示唆した。 THE 2020 WORLD SERIES OF POKER has officially been postponed. In a statement, Caesars Entertainment Corp revealed that, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency currently gripping the United States, the 51st running of the WSOP – originally scheduled to start on 26 May – would instead be postponed until the fall of 2020. Exact dates and events are yet to be determined. “We are committed to running the World Series of Poker this year but need additional time to proceed on our traditional scale while prioritizing guest and staff well- being,” said Ty Stewart, Executive Director of the World Series of Poker. “In the interim, official WSOP competitions are expected to be played online this summer, and we will soon announce details of an expanded series of tournaments to be played on WSOP.com and through partnership with international operators, which will allow players to chase WSOP glory from their homes.” Organizers also suggested a shortened schedule is likely when the WSOP does return, although the US$10,000 Main Event will remain.
