Chaired by Sonny Yeung, the company reported a 232% increase in profit attributable to owners in the first six months of 2019 thanks to a higher share of profit from its Macau integrated resort, Ponte 16. Ponte 16 benefits from some unique geography. As the only casino on the city’s historic Inner Harbour it’s got a sizable footprint, 2.3 hectares in all, which provides space for a more expansive offering than many of its competitors on the Macau peninsula: an outdoor pool, a fitness center and sauna, a L’Occitane-branded spa, nine restaurants, cafes and lounges and seven multi-purpose meeting rooms. Ponte 16 offers 109 gaming tables, including 98 mass gaming tables, seven high-limit tables and four VIP tables. Having overcome the effects of Typhoon Hato in 2017 – which flooded the main gaming floor and forced closure of the casino for a number of weeks afterwards – Success Universe has mastered the art of playing to its strengths.
