IAG JAPAN AUG 2019 10 SUNCITY TO APPLY MACAU LAW TO OPERATIONS IN ALL JURISDICTIONS SUNCITY Group CEO Alvin Chau has issued a pledge not to conduct any gaming operations currently outlawed in Macau in any other countries and regions, even if those operations are legally allowed within those jurisdictions. The declaration follows allegations published by a media organization linked with China state-owned news agency Xinhua, Economic Information Daily , accusing Suncity Group of signing up players who gambled in its Macau junket rooms to online gaming and proxy betting services. Both are banned under Macau and Chinese law. Speaking at a specially convened press conference, Chau reiterated Suncity’s strong denial of the allegations but nevertheless promised the company would apply the law of Macau globally — meaning Suncity will not partake in proxy betting or any online gaming operations anywhere in the world. “For any products that are legally allowed to operate in other countries and regions, the company will not adopt them if the laws of Macau do not allow it and will strictly adhere to the law of Macau,” he said. “The company has not operated the so-called online gaming platform, which is promoting gaming and conducting monetary settlement in Mainland China without physical gambling chips.” サンシティー、マカオ の法律を全管轄区 域の事業に適用へ サンシティー ・グループのCEOであるアルヴィン・チャウ氏は、マカ オで現在非合法であるゲーミング業務を、例えその管轄区域内で 合法的に許可されている場合であっても、他の国や地域で行わな いことを誓約した。 この宣言は、中国の国営通信社である新華社と経済情報デイリ ーが共同で発表した。サンシティー・グループがマカオのジャンケッ トルームでギャンブルしたプレーヤーをオンラインゲーミングおよ びプロキシ賭博サービスにサインアップしたと非難する主張に対 するものである。その両方がマカオと中国の法律で禁止されてい る。 チャウ氏は、緊急記者会見で、サンシティーがその主張を強く否 定していることを繰り返し述べたが、それでも同社はマカオの法律 を世界中の事業に適用すると約束。これは、同社がプロキシ賭博 やいかなるオンラインゲーミング事業も、今後他国で行わないこと を意味する。 「他の国や地域で合法的に許可されている事業であっても、マ カオの法律で許可されていない場合は行わず、マカオの法律に厳 密に準拠する」とチャウ氏がけ加えた。 「同社はいわゆるオンラインゲーミングプラットフォームを運営 していない。なお、これは物理的なギャンブルチップなしで中国本 土でゲーミングを促進し、金銭決済を行なっている事業を指す」
